Kate‘s broad experience and global travels over the past twelve years make her one of British Columbia’s top lifestyle and tourism media specialists having represented all classes of hotels, spas, restaurants, wineries, attractions, experiences and other lifestyle businesses to media in the United States, Canada and internationally.
Kate established her private communications business in 2006 following her time as communications director at Top Table Restaurant Group's acclaimed stable of restaurants – Araxi, Blue Water Café, CinCin and West. Prior to this, Kate oversaw Tourism Vancouver’s travel media relations department, where she spearheaded the wildly successful restaurant promotion, Dine Out Vancouver, and worked with hundreds of restaurants and culinary businesses in Vancouver to raise their profile during her five-year tenure.
More recently Kate was the media and public relations lead in the rebrand of Road 13 Winery + Vineyards, one of the most successful BC winery rebrands to date. She has also worked on branding revamps and media campaigns with clients like Hester Creek Estate, Stoneboat Vineyards and Laughing Stock Vineyards. Kate was a founding member of the first Okanagan Feast of Fields event in 2009, which made more money than any other Feast of Fields event in its 15 year history, due in large part to her successful fund-raising activities.
Kate possesses a wealth of relationships and contacts with local, regional and international media and with key players in the culinary, wine, lifestyle, retail and hospitality industries. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/English from Simon Fraser University and a diploma in Tourism Management from Capilano College.
Kate has been an on-air contributor for CBC Televisions’ lifestyle program, Living Vancouver and stylist for Lower Mainland lifestyle magazine, Look as well as a writer for local online lifestyle guides on select travel and lifestyle features.
An avid traveler, Kate shares her time between offices in Vancouver and Kelowna where she takes advantage of the regions’ vibrant restaurant and wine scenes with her husband, another passionate foodie and well-known Canadian chef. Kate prioritizes family, health and fitness, is an aspiring yogi and is frequently seen out walking with her gorgeous baby boy, Max and pudgy pug, Otis.

With a comprehensive mix of public relations, marketing and media experience, Wendy Underwood brings a professional and balanced approach to all marketing communications projects. Most recently, Wendy held the position of Manager, Travel Media Relations, International & Trade at Tourism Vancouver. While at Tourism Vancouver, she had the opportunity to work with some of the world's most influential media outlets as they got ready to cover the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. These included Reuters, USA Today, BBC, Channel 9 Australia and NBC.
Prior to working with Tourism Vancouver , Wendy worked as a freelance writer for publications such as Vancouver magazine, the Georgia Straight and Western Living. In the public relations arena, her media savvy has won the respect of clients such as Nettwerk Productions, the Georgie Awards and Vancouver International Fashion Week. Wendy is widely travelled, and having chosen Vancouver as her home base, she is proud to be able to play a part in bringing recognition to local organizations and brands.
Wendy holds a B.A. (English, Journalism major) from Curtin University in Western Australia.

Catherine is a skilled and strategic communicator with a breadth of public relations experience, spanning media relations, marketing public relations, event planning, community consultation, crisis communications, and public affairs. Along with her warmth and outgoing nature, Catherine brings this wealth of experience and her media savvy to her lifestyle and tourism communications projects.
Most recently, in her position as manager, travel media relations at Tourism Whistler, Catherine worked with print and broadcast media outlets from Canada, the U.S., and around the globe to generate positive media coverage for Whistler’s hotel, restaurant, retail, spa, outdoor adventure and lifestyle businesses. She managed the communications and media relations for Golf Whistler and for Whistler’s burgeoning festival calendar, including Cornucopia–Whistler’s world-renowned celebration of food and wine.
Prior to Tourism Whistler, Catherine worked at Vancouver Airport Authority where she planned and implemented successful community events, engaged in ongoing media relations activities, and played a key role during 9/11, supporting the airport’s emergency planning and crisis communications team.
Catherine's career began at a busy public relations agency in Vancouver where she honed her strategic marketing skills working with clients in the food, wine, restaurant, hotel, airline, and financial industries.
Catherine lives in North Vancouver with her husband and two daughters. She is both energized and grounded by long trail runs on Vancouver’s north shore mountains. |
